I am what you would probably describe as a chronic positive thinker. You know, one of those never say die 'energiser bunny' sort of people. Now you know as well as i do that i'd be lying if i said i never have moments of waned hope. I'm positive most of the time and like to expect the upside of every potentially bad situation. One of the perspectives i've adopted in my life is the 'it is good' perspective. let me explain.
A King goes hunting with his chief aide. Whilst taking turns to shoot at their targets, the aide accidentally shoots the Kings thumb off. The King is furious but surprisingly the aide responds with an unexpected "do not worry King, this is a good thing." Naturally the King is not impressed and sends the aide off to the dungeon. To this the aide again responds "not to worry King this too is good." A few years on the King is again hunting and this time unfortunately falls into the hands of savage cannibals. The barbarians tie the helpless King and prepare to eat him but suddenly they stop and decide to let him go. The King later learns that the reason they let him go was because he was missing a thumb. It turns out the cannibals as a matter of tradition do not eat people with any limbs missing. Feeling bad about locking up the aide, the King rushed back to the dungeon to apologize for locking him away for so long. By now you can guess the aide's response to the apology, "not to worry King it is good." The King is rather annoyed and questions why such a terrible experience of being locked away for so long 'is good.' To this the aide responds, "King if i had not shot your thumb off the cannibals would've eaten you. If you hadn't have locked me up, i would have been with you when the cannibals captured you. Your majesty i have both my thumbs and the cannibals would've eaten us both."
This is what the Word of God says in Romans 8v28 (NIV)" And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to his purpose." To be honest i do not know how all things can work together for your good, but i believe they can and they will all you have to do is STAND YOUR GROUND!
